At the top of the page are Chinese silks woven for silk-painting, ready to paint or dye (except for the silk noils). The basic silks are Ponge 5 - lightweight silk (ideal for beginners and for making cards and floaty scarves) and Habotai 8 - mediumweight silk (ideal for scarves, clothing, pictures and more). We have a variety of suppliers including Ideen and H Dupont, but all silk is spun in Chinese factories with good conditions for their employees.
The photo shows a painted fine chiffon from Ideen. White flat silks do not show up well in a photo, so many of the pictures show the silk painted or dyed.
At the bottom of the page are hand-loomed silk fabrics woven for us in India. They use eri/Peace silk, where the silkworm is allowed to emerge naturally from the cocoon.
