Sari Yarn, Ribbons and more - Indian Silk Sari Ribbon Multi Brights approx 2.5cm wide

Silk sari ribbon is silk waste from the sari textile mills in India which would otherwise be destroyed. This beautiful handmade craft ribbon is made by women's co-operatives in rural India. The silk sari fabric is hand cut and tied end to end and made into skeins. These women work from home and earn their own income, they have a quality of life and can afford to sent their children to school. This unique and magical art yarn can be used for creative embroidery, as a knitting or crochet yarn, for wall hangings, mixed media, embellishments, rugs, scarves, baskets, hats and many more.

Although it is mainly silk, there may be other fabrics included such as viscose, cotton and metal threads. There are likely to be some brocade and printed designs too.

Approx 2.5cm wide, approx 41-53 metres per skein although this could vary considerably depending on the weight of the silks used. Every skein is different!
