We currently have in stock just 2 of the 6 new Procion MX colours from Jacquard. These are specifically formulated for ice dyeing, and to provide the most dramatic and distinct colour splits possible. You won't believe the results!! Ice dyeing is one of the easiest and most rewarding dyeing experiences there is, and the process is simple: soak cotton fabric in a solution of soda ash (2 cups per gallon), then wring it out and tie, fold or scrunch it up, place it in a colander and cover it in ice or snow, and then sprinkle dye over the ice. Allow the ice to melt overnight in a warm place, and then rinse and wash 24-48 hours later. The ice causes the component colours of the blended dye to "split" and separate, producing an incredible crystalline pattern of many distinct colours, almost like a kaleidoscope. Imagine the folded fabric as a mountain range: the peaks will dye a different colour to the valleys, and you'll see a beautiful stratification of different colours in between. We have bottled these jars up with Jacquard's permission, as they do not yet stock this size which I know will be popular.
